SBAR provides technical data and logistics services in support of combat weapons and support systems and shipboard elements. This includes data management for the receipt and storage of Government Furnished Property and Information, compilation of Technical Data Packages, and Top-Down Breakdown Drawing Lists, and Drawing Packages. It also includes development of data and configuration management plans, review of ECPs, ORDALT instructions, and configuration audits performed aboard ships, as well as preparation and updating of technical documentation, analysis of SHIPALTs, Planned Maintenance System documentation, incorporation of field changes, memos, detailed revision data, marked-up drawings, and hardware examination. Also included are network engineering design specification, database development, hardware/software engineering and implementation, test/operations procedures development, and specialized training.

SBAR supports Integrated Self Defense (ISD) programs in technical documentation and training development of NSSMS Mk 57 Mod 4-9 re-architecture improvements. They conduct front-end assessments of personnel and training needs for new or updated weapons systems and support the AEGIS Logistics Directorate in development of Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM) and Electronic Technical Manual (ETM) standards, policies, and procedures. Additionally, they convert existing CG and DDG Class AEGIS Weapon System Manuals into ETMs and Class 4 IETMs and review and develop logistics technical documentation.

SBAR schedules/coordinates initial crew operator and maintenance training requirements as the MK 57 Mod 6/7 systems are installed. They augment the AIT in overseeing all training requirements for new installations of ORDALTs in the MK 57 NSSMS and MK 23 Target Acquisition System (TAS) programs. SBAR is also involved in supporting material condition assessments and correcting deficiencies. They conduct ongoing review and updates to ECP and ORDALT Instructions and develop/update User Logistics Support Summaries (ULSSs) for the MK 31 Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM), MK 23 Target Acquisition System (TAS), NSSMS MK 57 Mod 2/3, NSSMS MK 57 Mod 4-9, for U.S. and NATO participating countries. They developed the ETM Style Guide for AEIGS technical manuals and perform QA screening of AEGIS technical documentation.

SBAR provides technical data and related services for the planning, development, and QA of Fire Control System MK 92 technical manuals. They conduct front-end Manpower, Personnel, and Training (MP&T) studies for the AN/UYQ-70(V) Advanced Display System and AN/SPQ-9B Radar and developed and/or updated Navy Training System Plans (NTSPs) for the MK 41 VLS, AN/SPQ-9B Radar, and NSSMS MK 57 programs. SBAR developed a master POA&M for all NSSMS MK 57 Logistics Elements and developed and maintain the MS Access Logistics Action Item database for MK 57 NSSMS program. They performed major program revisions to Visual Basic in support of the Navy’s Passive Countermeasures System (PCMS).
