Research Operations Support Services (ROSS) for the AFRL, Edwards AFB
Jacobs

Jacobs supports 30 – 40 active task orders at any given time, including providing support to the Navy since 1995 on the LEAP Program. For this project, we have conducted more than 10 third-stage rocket motor tests (kick stage for Navy standard missile for kinetic-kill vehicles) and static integration tests. These projects require a broad range of support, including systems safety, systems engineering, CM, modeling and prototyping, range and instrumentation support, and data collection and analysis. These tests verified the systems capabilities and resulted in three recent successful intercepts launched from a Navy Aegis cruiser.

We operate and maintain 12 major test areas at AFRL and have conducted more than 1,700 tests of more than 20 different propellant development systems. Our support involves more than 30 test stands and includes retrofits, upgrades, and operation of support systems such as propellants, pressurants, and data and instrumentation systems. This includes mechanical, design, aeronautical, electrical, and chemical engineering to address all aspects of technical support for rocket testing and propellant development. We also support the O&M of test items such as injectors, thrust chambers, cryogenic valves, and control systems. In addition, we developed and implemented 20 specific innovations aimed at improving operational efficiency and enhancing contract performance. Examples of these innovations include ProjectLab (enhanced project management techniques), Capability Enhancement Workshelf, and Networking and Referral Program (recruiting of specialized skills).
