Jacobs Approach/Solution Our support to the AV-8B gun system included logistics planning captured in Integrated Logistics Support Plans (ILSP) and Maintenance Plans. We also provided inputs to life cycle costing, and developed initial provisioning plans and spare parts requirements. These included critical spares, stock documented levels, and allowances. We prepared support documentation, including parts listings, configurations, and procedures to ensure constant availability of spare parts. We applied our systems engineering process to address ILS and system supportability issues early in conceptual design. Support included development and review of planning documents, such as Operational Logistics Support Plans and ILS Detail Specifications. These documents supplement the ILSP and ensure that all support requirements are completely addressed. Our project personnel performed Logistics Support Analysis (LSA) to identify supportability objectives and to incorporate them in life cycle requirements. We also analyzed maintenance concepts at each maintenance level to ensure consistency with overall mission requirements. We provided inputs into Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) to support ILS and Level of Repair (LOR) determinations. Results and Benefits Supportability analysis continues to be an integral part of our overall ILS approach, yielding substantial cost benefits to our Navy customer. We continue to provide reliability, maintainability and availability (RM&A) analysis; assist the Navy in certification of maintenance depot and overhaul points; provide support planning; develop support equipment lists; supply provisional technical data; develop allowance parts lists; and identify manpower, facilities, and training requirements based on LSA.
