Example: Modeling and Simulation Support to the Joint Munitions Test and Evaluation Program Office, Ft. Walton Beach, FL

Our RF models provide test engineers with a powerful planning toolWe provide ongoing support to Chicken Little, a joint-service munitions test program funded by the Air Force and Army. Its objective is to support the development and test of smart weapons and related technology. Elements of the test activities supported by our personnel include sensor performance, target signature modeling, target detection in background clutter, multispectral signatures and imaging techniques, and effectiveness analysis. We have delivered comprehensive RF models of Eglin AFB's B-70, C-52, and C-72 test areas which serve as key tools for test planning and test data analysis for a variety of munitions programs. These models provide detailed radar cross-section (RCS) estimate data, terrain/foliage representations, target obscuration levels, and multispectral signature information.

Results and Benefits – Our RCS target array modeling of test areas permitted developers of the Sensor-Fuzed Weapon to optimize fuzing algorithms based upon varying trajectory models. In addition, our approaches have enabled much more precise representation of target scenes and geometry with capability to accurately predict where shadowing will occur. This has been used in support of several test efforts, including the Small Diameter Bomb Program.
