CMMI – Mature Project Planning

Client − Project Managers, engineers, and quality assurance

Purpose − This course covers the purpose, form, and structure of the Software Development Plan, the development of Project Strategy, the formation of Project Structure, and development of the Integrated Master Schedule. Specific topics to be covered include development of the technical approach, the project life cycle, the software architecture model, the integration approach, the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS), estimation, project milestones, team development, risk management, quality and performance goal setting, planning for verification and validation, and monitoring and control of the project. CMMI® compliant Lean/agile project management alternatives are provided and discussed.

Client Preparation − Have understanding of basic software life cycle and concurrent engineering practices. Be exposed to tenets of the Capability Maturity Model Integration®.

Expected Outcomes − Student will be capable of estimating and planning a software development project, to include estimation of software development effort, development of the project work break-down structure.
